On thursday, Boris Johnson said that he would not stand for leadership
of Conservative Party. He also announced that he does not want to be a prime
minister. Actually he won the referendum trigerring Britain Departure from the
European Union.
What makes this behavior so unacceptable, almost criminal, is that Johnson could have so easily fought for the Remain side and kept the United Kingdom in the E.U. Earlier this year, Johnson used his weekly column in the Daily Telegraph to announce which side of the referendum issue he would be supporting. But in preparation, Johnson actually wrote two columns: one advocating that Britain remain in the E.U.; the other imploring the country to leave. I know this to be true, and I also have sources who have said that the arguments he made in support of remaining in the E.U. were believed by his family and friends to be much more compelling than the ones made on behalf of leaving.
