The Most Attractive Place for Celebrating Christmas is at Tanah Lot, Bali

There are lots of fabulous tourist attractions in Bali and the Tanah Lot, Bali is one of them. The Tanah Lot, Bali is a famous rock formation of the Indonesian island of Bali. This is the home of a famous pilgrimage temple, the Pura Tanah Lot and a popular tourist site for tourists. This fascinating tourist spot is located about 12 kilometers from the Tabanan City and 20 kilometers from Denpasar.

The area around Tanah Lot, Bali comprises a wondrous mixture of natural beauty and a sheer human effort. Tourist mainly come here to have a view of the idyllic white sand beach with crashing waves, complemented by a small yet majestic temple. This temple, known as Pura Tanah Lot, is located close to the sea on a rocky background. Tanah Lot attracts throngs of both locals and tourists daily. Most of them come here o catch a glimpse of the romantic Tanah Lot sunsets, which is a regular occurrence during the dry season.

Tanah Lot, Bali is a small sanctuary and is close to a series of sea temples on the south coast of Bali such as Pura Sakenan, Pura Ulu Watu, Pura Rambut Siwi and Pura Peti tenget. All these temples are related to the principal mountain sanctuaries like the Besakih at Gunung Agung, Pura Batur at Batur and Plura Luhur at Mount Batukau.

It is said that Tanah Lot is the work of the 15th Century priest Nirartha. There is a popular story that during the priest’s travels along the south coast he saw the rock islands beautiful setting and rested there.

The local fishermen spotted and bought him gifts. Nirartha then spent the night on the little island. The priest also spoke to the fishermen and told them to build a shrine on the rock for he felt it to be a holy place to worship the Balinese sea gods. The Tanah Lot temple was then built and has been an important part of Balinese mythological history for centuries.
